Mr. Yim Sinorn Happy to Hear the Court Dropped the Charges Against Him and His Colleagues, Thanked the Prime Minister of Cambodia

PHNOM PENH: Former President of the Youth Movement of the former National Rescue Party of South Korea, Mr. Yim Sinorn has returned to Cambodia and has told EAC News that he was really happy to hear from his defense lawyer in on Monday, 17 January that the court decided to drop the charges against him on charges of conspiracy and inciting serious social unrest in Cambodia and elsewhere during 2019.

However, Mr. Yim Sinorn has said that he had not yet received the verdict and has made the announcement , as he claimed that he had only received information about the acquittal from his lawyer.

Yim Sinorn has also told EAC News that he is currently in Phnom Penh, but his nine other colleagues are still in South Korea as they continue to study and work there. He thanked to the Prime Minister of Cambodia, for accepting the request to review the possibility of dropping the charges against him and his colleagues and assigning the task to the Minister of Justice to facilitate further settlement.

"Earlier, I received information from my lawyer that the court had dropped all charges against me and nine other members on January 17, 2022," he said. I am happy, along with my team, who is living in Korea, they are very excited to hear about the drop of the charges, which means that they are not involved in any criminal offense. I would also like to thank the Prime Minister Hun Sen, for receiving my letter of request, as well as the working group that intervened to bring the hearing back to justice for all of us. A big thank you for me.”

On September 29, Mr. Yim Sinorn has written a letter to the Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Sen, requesting that the charges against him and his colleagues be dropped, saying that the previous allegations were unfair because he has never supported Sam Rainsy's November 9 repatriation movement. The nine associates of Mr. Yim Sinan are Meas Pisal, Ros Sophal, Sok Rath, Yang Sinek, Chhun Bun Hea, Thong Houch, Tim Vann, Prum Sokha and Pring Chheng.

The Investigating Judge, Mr. Koy Sao the Deputy President of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, has issued an arrest warrant for Mr. Yim Sinorn on 6 November, 2019, who was accused of conspiracy and leading to Serious social unrest committed in Cambodia and elsewhere during 2019 as a criminal offense and punishable under Articles 453, 494 and 595 of the Penal Code. In the arrest warrant, the investigating judge has ordered the public forces to search for, arrest and bring Mr. Yim Sinorn to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court for legal action and has also ordered the director of the prison to receive and detain him and brought to investigation judge as soon as possible.
